EVENT: Remembering one of Pikes Peak Branch’s past members:
“HELEN COGSWELL TROSTEL: A Pen Woman’s Art, Letters and Legacy”

TIME:  9:30 a.m.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: At this morning coffee, Anne Galbraith, daughter of one of our former members, will show and discuss paintings and writings of her mother’s, in her mother’s former home and Anne’s lifelong residence.  This event is open only to Members and Friends.

EVENT: Christmas Luncheon with a viewing (DVD) of “The Christmas Story in Art.”
LOCATION: Blue Sage Café, 5152 Centennial Blvd.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: The program is provided by the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.  From the Annunciation through the Flight into Egypt, the story of Christ’s birth is seen in paintings by Italian and Flemish Masters of the Renaissance.

EVENT: A “Peak” at Pen Women Prose and Poetry
LOCATION: Blue Sage Café, 5152 Centennial Blvd.
TIME: 11:30 a.m.
EVENT DESCRIPTION:   A meeting featuring a "peak" at our Member’s and Friends plethora of genres.  Excepts will be read from the authors and there will be an opportunity to purchase books.

FEBRUARY 18, 2012
EVENT: “Was Chipeta Really a Queen?”  Guest speaker, Cynthia Becker.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:  Author of the book, “Chipeta, Queen of the Utes,” Cynthia will discuss how she gathered and researched her book on Chipeta, which has led to other publications.

EVENT:  “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
LOCATION: Peak Grill, 4423 Centennial Blvd.
TIME:  11:30 a.m.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: A look at the comparisons of composing music, writing a book or creating a canvas.  Music as a foreign language and other interesting facts about music and musicians. Virginia Franklin Campbell, music member, of the Pikes Peak Branch is presenting this program grown out of a request from a fellow letters member.

MAY 19, 2012
EVENT: Lunch at Michael’s on Main, Canon City, CO followed by a visit to the Fremont Center for the Arts during their annual "Make it a family affair".
LOCATION: Michael’s on Main, 605 Main, Canon City, CO is a restaurant and it has a gift shop, candy story and wonderful art exhibits, most often Colorado artists are featured. Visit their website for more information.
TIME:  11:30 a.m.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: 66th Annual Blossom Festival of Fine Art at the Freemont Center for the Arts.  This Blossom festival is a juried and judge annual event.  $3.00 per person entry fee.

OCTOBER 15, 2011
EVENT: “Depression Visible: The Ragged Edge” by guest speaker, Diana Alishouse
LOCATION: Blue Sage Café, 5152 Centennial Blvd.
TIME:  11:30 A.M.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Diana will present her book that shows what depression and bipolar illnesses look like--the symptoms, causes and treatment.  A story of hope and inspiration through a memoir, poetry and art.  Diana will display some of the fiber art pieces she designed and created as she learned about her illness and fought to overcome it.
